LO3: Legal and Ethical
When creating our radio show I needed to make sure that I stuck to the different media regulation rules which is created by Ofcom. The content which we produced bad to have no swearing/ violent/ sexual references/ or promoting alcohol or drugs to minors, that could potentially offend anyone. Having stuck to the rules which was put in place by Ofcom it means that if we wanted the radio station to be broadcasted in the future then it would be accepted as it would not offend anyone. We also took into consideration about using our own original content in the show to avoid getting a copyright fee.
In our radio show we would need to make sure that we avoid plagiarisms and copyright. This is where you use someone else work but claim that it is your own original content or use some else's work without permission. This would be important to take into consideration when creating the radio show as if we were to upload sounds or clips from someone else’s radio show then we would need to credit or pay that person to allow me to share their work, which could lead to a legal issue if we were not to do so. Likewise, if someone were to use our work as their own then we could sue them as they have not got permission or contacted us beforehand.
We will need to ensure that we have a PSR license which will make it so that the radio show would get paid from broadcasting information and a promotion for the wildlife park. This will make the promotions legal and would also avoid any issues with ownership of the content. This will also avoid any issues with there being copyright claims on any music that we use and form of ownership that people could try and claim from the radio show.
Another legal and ethical issue that we will have to consider would be the ASA code which involves issues such as false advertisement, environmental claims, and prohibited categories such as endangered animals. These categories will be avoided to be used during our radio show because it could cause many issues and would further not be family friendly and could further lead to the wildlife park losing customers and money from. the content they have be associated with.
