Internet - internet used as a form of distribution - global - (NTS, FIP, MUNDU, WORLDWIDE FM)

There are many different types of radio stations that people access, in the radio world there are different radio stations for different genres of content, for example there are radio stations dedicated to jazz music, hip hop and the classics. There are also certain radio stations that are dedicated to certain areas being locations, genders, ethnicities, age, sexuality and religion.

One type of radio station that exists is the not for profit type of radio station, this is a radio station that keeps the cost of the station minimal and relies on volunteers to make the station run. These types of radio stations are broadcasted in places such as hospitals, universities and colleges, this is to help the producers gather experience in the radio world. Many well known DJs stated their careers through a not for profit radio station, examples of these radio stations would be Sheffield Hospital Radio (HBS), Care Radio and Forger Radio. The genres for these radio stations is informative, they will be announcing and giving information out about what is happening being events, food information in the food courts, freshers week for the students and any information on exams or anything like that. They will also play music for the students to listen to mainly being hip hop and pop music for that is common for student users to listen to.

Another type of radio station is the public radio stations, these radio stations include KERA radio, WABE, KOPB-FM, this type of radio station informs, entertains and educates the user through giving them information on topics. This type of radio station is broadcasted for public benefit rather than to serve purely commercial interests. This means that the radio station does not broadcast any information or commercials that do not benefit the listeners, this means that the radio station is completely funded by the commercials.

Another form of radio station is the national communications stations which specializes in music and talk show type of radio stations, for example radio stations that are national communication stations are KISS, CAPITAL, HEART, LBD and TALK SPORT. These radio stations broadcast globally and are run through as a method to create a profit for the company through their use of advertisement and endorsements, to make sure that the radio stations are successful they have multiple stations that they run to increase profits.

Radio stations such as RADIO Sheffield and TXI Radio are examples of public and commercial radio stations for they are radio stations that are aimed at certain regions. This makes these types of radio stations the regional radio stations that the public would listen too for information on their area, these radio stations are important for the public for they can tune into the radio stations that are suitable for them and get relevant information that will be useful for the public in the areas.

An example of a none profit radio station is BBC Local station meaning the radio station is a community station that people produce and broadcast their own programs and participate in operating the station. From this it means that the radio stations will not need to have any staff embers to pay and would not gain any profit from the content for the community volunteers produce the content. These radio stations cover small areas such as ethnicity, age, gander, interests, cultures and many more, this allows there to be a mixture of content produced that can be suitable for many people in the community.

Radio stations use the internet to distribute their radio stations such as NTS, FIP, MUNDU and WORLDWIDE FM, these type of radio stations sue the internet to distribute and market their radio stations globally and efficiently. Radio stations will use the internet for these reasons because it is a popular platform for people to use and people can access it easier and portably, meaning the radio stations would get more views and become more successful.
